DIN 965 Phillips Flat Head Machine Screw has a large top diameter, which can be round or equal hexagonal, allowing tools such as screwdrivers or wrenches to turn the screws. The more protruding top also prevents the screw from drilling too deep into the material, and increases the pressure of the screw on the material. Countersunk screws can usually be removed or re-tightened at will without sacrificing their efficiency. They also provide greater strength than nails, and can also be used repeatedly.
